Users Give GetData’s Explorer View The Thumbs Up In Special Survey

More than 90 per cent of respondents to a survey about the use of GetData Software’s flexible and fast file previewing application, Explorer View, said they would recommend it to friends, colleagues or employers. More than 360 users from around the world responded to the multiple choice question survey, conducted between March 5 and March 11. “We were pleasantly surprised at the strong positive response to Explorer View and we have taken note of much of the critical feedback, making suggestions of new features and additional file types,” GetData Managing Director John Hunter said today. “It’s great to get compliments but the constructively critical comments are most important to us. We are always looking to improve our products. Very often you don’t know of problems and short comings unless a user gives us feedback. "We have already begun to respond to some of the suggestions users have made and to solve problems that others have named as frustrating or reasons why they would not use Explorer View on a regular basis. “Some respondents wanted a bigger screen. That feature already exists and also allows you to detach the Explorer View viewing panel to float it anywhere you want on your main screen, top, bottom, left or right, and drag it out to full size if you wish. But they had obviously not clicked on the overlapping page icon to enable that to happen. “Adding other features and fixing minor conflicts are at the top of our list and we thank everyone around the world who made the effort to answer the questions and offer comments.” Home and Business Uses Almost 80% (79.1) of respondents said they used Explorer View’s various features at home while 15.7% said they used the file viewing, copying, pasting, printing, image rotating and video or audio playing capabilities at the office. “That is gradually changing as employers are discovering the productivity values of it in the work place because of the versatility and time-saving Explorer View offers users,” Mr. Hunter said. More than a third of people said they used it multiple times a day, another 20% per cent said they used it at least once a day. It’s most popular use was to quickly preview documents followed by previewing digital photos and graphics. Videos and music made up about 26% of use. More than 93% of respondents said they found Explorer View easy or very easy to use, 61.3% said they never had any problems with the software and only 28.4% had occasional problems. And more than 73% said the cost (US$29.95) and usefulness of the program met their expectations. “You can go to the Explorer View website, at www.explorerview.com and get a free upgrade of the software with all the latest features,” Mr. Hunter added.
