Tech Talk Radio Talks Data Recovery With GetData Software’s World Expert

GetData Software’s Graham Henley, one of the world experts on data recovery from PC computers, was a special guest this week on Tech Talk Radio’s two hour program answering a wide array of questions about how to get your data back. Recovery from desk and laptop computers, digital still and video cameras and from the ubiquitous iPod as well as how to get your emails and attachments were all covered during his appearance on the show. He was cross-examined by host Andrew McColm and regular co-hosts Graeme Callaghan, Mark Diggens and Dr. Ron. The Tech Talk Radio (http://www.techtalkradio.com.au/ ) program goes out live on 3WBC, Melbourne, is streamed online, and is also broadcast through 98.1 Cairns FM (QLD), Stop and Go Radio (Chicago), Switch 1197 Brisbane, Queer FM (Perth) , 95.3 Huon FM (TAS), 98.5 Mt Herringback (TAS) and 1611 3XX Melbourne (VIC). “The Tech Talk hosts were really well briefed and had some very good, practical questions,” Graham said after the show. The hosts were very impressed by the fact you could download the GetData recovery applications, search your drive and see, in a special preview window, whether the files you need have actually been recovered – before you have to pay for the activation key which allows you to save your recovered files to a new drive (or USB, CD or DVD). Rule One - Don't Panic He told listeners that the first most important thing to do when you realize you may, or apparently, have lost your important files is: ‘Don’t panic. Stay calm and assess the situation. It is most likely that your files are somewhere on the hard drive”. Graham then went on to explain what options you have to download, depending on what

you have lost or deleted, Recover My Files (gets back more than 350 different file types), or Recover My Photos (digital still and video files) or Recover My Email (Outlook and Outlook Express) for whether you need to get back files from your iPod. You have a choice of sites – www.recovermyfiles.com ; www.recovermyphotos.com ; www.recover-my-email.com or www.recovermyipod.com. He was also asked if you could recover data off old 3 ½ inch floppy disks, if it was possible to recover from a RAID array (where data is spread over a number of networked computers) and whether now that hard-drives had such enormous capacity (a terabyte) is not unusual. iPods and the beach And when it came to iPods, two of the most common problems were accidentally synching empty library to your music files and owners who’d taken them to the beach and ended up with sand in them. Graham Henley is a 15 year expert in data recovery in the Australian Federal Police computer forensics and the corporate world, when he headed PriceWaterhouseCooper’s computer forensics division until leaving to co-start GetData Software (www.getdata.com). His 25 minute interview with the Tech Talk Radio team covers a wide range of data recovery issues and explains a lot about how data recovery software, like Recover My Files, can get back your important files.
